Therapy for Children
I specialize in working with children beginning in infancy through around age 10. Modalities of treatment include Child Parent Psychotherapy (where the parent is an active participant), play therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Session length and treatment modality are based on age, presenting concerns and the preference of the child and caregiver.
2.
Individual Therapy for Adults
I work with adult clients who are seeking to manage current family stress, bond with their child or resolve their own childhood experiences. I also have training specific to the perinatal period (family planning through the first 2 years of parenting).
3.
Parent Consultation
I offer two options for parent consultation (when the child is not my therapy client):
1. A free 15 minute phone consultation in which I'll hear about overarching concerns and help determine whether therapy is indicated & whether I might be the right therapist for you/your child.
2. If you are not yet interested in getting your child into therapy and want to identify any strategies you can try at home, I offer an hour-long, extended parent consultation session in which we get deeper into your concerns and brainstorm intervention suggestions for you to implement at home.

My Approach
Therapy sessions with me look different depending on who is in the room. For my clients age 6 and under, I typically have the caregiver in the room throughout the session, whereas I usually meet individually with older children. I use a combination of approaches during sessions, including psychodynamic therapy, Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and play therapy. I draw on a variety of skills I've acquired over my fourteen years in clinical practice which have spanned across a range of therapeutic settings - homes, schools and outpatient therapy clinics - to help my clients make impactful changes. When working with children or child-parent dyads, I use an attachment framework and my knowledge of child development to identify areas of strength and vulnerability and develop recommendations and a treatment plan. My primary clinical focuses are infant and early childhood mental health and development, maternal mental health, parent-child attachment, and managing child anxiety/stress response. LGBTQ+ families welcome!

About me
I graduated with my Master in Social Work (MSW) from the Smith College School of Social Work in 2012 and I've been working in the clinical social work field ever since. I also have my Bachelor in Social Work (BSW), which I received from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. I earned my LCSW in 2015 and opened my private practice, Storybook Counseling LLC, in 2019.

Investment & Accepted Insurances
Improving the way you feel, think or connect with others is an investment that often doesn't get prioritized. Yet most of us know what a difference it makes in our lives when we feel happier, think more positively and feel fulfilled by or proud of our relationships. Therapy is an investment of time, mental energy, and sometimes money. If you decide you're interested in making this investment and think I might be the right fit for you or your child, give me a call at 860-794-4110. Below is a list of insurances I accept.
