Therapy for Children
Ideally, childhood is a time of wonder, play and learning in the context of safe relationships. Sometimes, despite the best intentions and efforts of caregivers, children experience trauma or other situations that challenge their sense of safety. Other times, a child’s behaviors make it clear that they are struggling, but it’s not clear why. Developing resilience and a healthy attachment style are profoundly impactful throughout life.
I have training & experience specific to the mental health needs of young children and their families, particularly related to trauma, anxiety, and attachment. I specialize in working with children beginning in infancy through around age 10. Modalities of treatment include Child Parent Psychotherapy (where the parent is an active participant), play therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
